Interview with Lee Witting on NDE Radio
Renu loved speaking with Lee Witting for NDE Radio. Lee is a warm and engaging host, and their conversation gave her space to describe an experience that still refuses to fit neatly inside ordinary words.
In 2017, she was hit by a bus and dragged under its wheel, and in the same moment that her body was facing catastrophic injury, she experienced her consciousness as separate from it, seeing what was happening below and entering what she understands as a near-death experience.
Part of that experience was a life review in the form of three books: the first held the past, the second held survival, and the third - the Burgundy Book - held the future she had not yet lived, when she returned to her body without opening.
Talking with someone who has listened to many near-death accounts made it possible to explore the experience with curiosity rather than trying to reduce it to a headline, and they spoke about what happened, but also about what followed: disability, changes to her voice and mobility, and the enormous task of rebuilding a creative life.
The conversation became part of the wider journey towards The Burgundy Book, Renu’s artistic response to the accident and everything it opened, and music and story have allowed her to approach the edges of the experience in a way factual description alone cannot.
If you are curious about near-death experiences, consciousness or the creative life that can emerge after a profound rupture, do have a listen.
